Creating sustainable models and prototypes of temporary living spaces at BASIS Vinschgau Venosta. These can be mobile and modular as well as designed into one of the buildings (palazzina tagliamento).
BASIS and unibz bring the world to Vinschgau
On November 4th it finally happened: the NEB – New European Bauhaus: beautiful, sustainable, together “BED&BASIS #Challenge” by #BASISVinschgauVenosta and #unibz entered its final round.
As part of the “Ignite New European Bauhaus” event, we worked with around 30 international participants to develop innovative #visions and solutions for the future. The task: to design a research and education retreat, a place of exchange and retreat for experts from all over the world for BASIS.
After several online meetings and some hands-on tinkering during the on-site workshop, we proudly presented the results! One requirement of the competition was that the projects should be replicable in any other location, in order to generate long-term added value for the entire region. #Silandro was one of four international venues, alongside Riga, Zaragoza, and Brussels.
At the finale, all teams presented to the expert jury, and the winning project was chosen: “Stüa – melding communities”! Inspired by the concept of the Stube (traditional living room), this project envisions a place of communal gathering made from sustainable local materials, featuring a central “hearth” that serves both heating and cooking functions, and much more.
The jury—Thomas Park, Katrin Gruber, Nitzan Cohen, and Simon Tumler—was thrilled! The winners not only receive funding of €10,000.00 but also gain participation in the New European Bauhaus Grow program.
We are overwhelmed by the passion and inspiration this event has sparked! It marks a big step for #regionaldevelopment and offers a glimpse into a great future for the region.
Many thanks to everyone who contributed to making this project a success! Let’s continue shaping the needs of the region together and draw a bright future.
